Festivities

The Patron Saint Festivities begin on the last Saturday of August. The first week of this festive fortnight is dedicated to the Virgin, under the invocations of Hope, Loreto and the Holy Cave.

Some extraordinary festivities declared of National Tourist Interest, in which the Presentations of the Queens of the Festivities, the traditional and popular Offering to Our Lady of the Holy Cave, the Pilgrimage to the Hermitage of Our Lady of Esperanza, the Ribbon Races or the traditional Enramada, the magnificent fireworks displays, the ‘Glosé Camarón’ art competition and exhibition, and the youth, folk and classical music concerts.

In the second festive week, bullfighting week, the town brings together thousands of people to witness an impressive spectacle, the “Entrance of Bulls and Horses” of Segorbe.

In the multitudinous Entrance, tradition mixes with history, its first documentary evidence dates back to the 14th century and it preserves all the essence that its creators knew how to imprint on it, the emotion and the risk that this impressive exhibition entails in which the herd of The bulls are supported and guided through Colón Street by thirteen skilled and brave riders, witnessed by a multitude of people who form a human wall along the route.

The Entry of Bulls and Horses was declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in 1985 and twenty years later, in 2005, a Festival of International Tourist Interest, since its prestige has spread and been accredited throughout the Spanish geography to even cross our borders.

The Festival unites the afternoon with the night and the night with the day; the heifers with the bulls and these with the festivals, welcoming visitors in a magical and captivating atmosphere. The events of this intense week will always allow us to find the time to regain strength at the accredited Segorbe Artisan Ham and Sausage Fair, organized by the Segorbe Artisanal Sausages and Segorbinos Ham Makers associations.
