On the right bank of the Palancia River, near the city, is this magnificent place, with shade, an ideal setting for contact with nature and country recreation. Above the fountain’s pipes are the fifty heraldic shields of each Spanish province, the place that invites you to walk and contemplate the passage of the Palancia River.
The fountain is an ornamental monument with 50 spouts representing the 50 Spanish provinces. The water from the pipes falls into a rectangular and elongated stone basin.
Over the years the fountain has undergone substantial changes in its appearance and also in its name. At first it was called the Juan Alves fountain and it was nothing more than a large pond in which you had to put stones, like walkways, to be able to go. to take a bath in two well-known and frequented river wells.
Later, during the dictatorship of Primo Rivera, a mayor of Segorbe named Pedro Moreno, fixed the fountain and placed forty pipes, which was later expanded to 50 due to the large flow of the spring. In 1975, the new mayor of the city placed the heraldic shield of each province on each pipe. With this transformation it received the official name of the fountain of the 50 Caños.
